Wild thang.....

Got on my kid's bike this afternoon. I haven't been on a bike for about 18 years..used to ride with my first boy when he was a baby. Put his little helmet on him and tuck him in the bike baby seat. I keep seeing these women my age and older riding around town and I want some of that! So, with my oldest watching to see if 911 needed to be called...off I went. I loved it! I'm going to keep doing that....good workout without the impact! I felt like a 10 year old! A 10 year old in a 150 year old body, but a 10 year old nevertheless !! :-D

I agree with KB!

Bike riding is the perfect exercise for people with our kind of pain issues. I wish I could ride one near my house but it's all hills...not inclines...STEEP hills.

Keep on riding, Karen, you rock!

I'm sure you'll feel fine. Your post reminds me that I haven't ridden a bike since I was in Key West 8 years ago. Of course, that was fun because there were no hills and there were plenty of great sunsets. Can't say I'd get the same around here. My wife has been after me for years to buy two bikes so that we can both go out -- the rate I'm going, I may as well wait until my child(ren) is/are old enough to join us!

We all have bikes I’ve ridden mine once. Years ago. What happened to banana seats?

Matt, I love seeing families ride together.
Milly! Banana seats are back in!

I wasn't sore today...went and helped paint benches for an Eagle project.
Now I'm sore!

Hopefully you won't have too much to do the next few days where you can rest and get un-sore.

Karen, honestly, I'm still looking for the bicycle that has a couch on it when I can recline while I'm driving. Not those ones with the cool laid back seats that I see around D.C. a lot -- a full sofa. Maybe with a remote control, TV, and little fridge with cold sodas attached:-)

WOW you sure look good for a 150 year old. When I grow up I hope I look as good as you.
My beloved has a really bad knee, he really can't do any impact. Walking is hard at times. But he insist that as long as he can, he will.
Happy Weekend

How's the biking? I hope it becomes a habit you can't control. Why aren't good activities habit forming?

I've started walking my Rottweiler at least once a day. I tried him on the bike but he didn't like the basket. There aren't many roads in CT where walking and biking are safe activities. Most of the back roads don't have a shoulder and they are narrow, hilly and curvy. Luckily the speed limit is typically only 25 mph so the drivers voluntarily limit them selves to about 50 mph. That's the speed limit times 2 times 1 minus the fear factor.

25 * 2 * (1 - fear factor)

With the worst road conditions the fear factor will be its maximum value of 1 and cars will be traveling at 25 mph. If the road is straight and flat the fear factor is 0 and the drivers will limit themselves to 50 mph. It seems complicated but the drivers quickly recognize when they don't have to slow down to the speed limit. However, when a police car is within view the driving speed equals the greater of the speed limit or the police car speed.

Good luck with your new exercise/stress reducing activity. By the way, this will reduce your "Real Age". Reducing this number will be an incentive to keep on biking!

You all crack me up! Luckily, I haven't cracked up literally. I'm still at it...the seat needs to be adjusted up on my younger's bike. He likes it low, which I don't understand because he kind of looks like Magilla Gorilla or a circus clown riding....maybe he thinks he's cool. He's 2-3 inches taller than I am..he's around 6'1"ish...so think I'll switch to older's mountain bike. He's got it up too high for me, but he doesn't ride much anymore. My Raleigh is in pieces...
Joe, the visual of a Rotty in a bike basket is too cute! You cracked me up this a.m.
I've been painting non-stop, too. One place is in a warehouse with no A/C so I'm glad it's cooler and rained! I AM SORE!! I haven't lost a pound, but I feel stronger and I'm going to work through it! Thank you all for your encouragement!
