This week. . .

I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I've also spent 15 years in Boy Scouting, so this week has been kind of emotional for me. I can't imagine the pain of the 4 sets of parents who sent their scouts off on a fun adventure--never to return. Please keep them in prayer.
Seeing my hometown and familiar places under water was a shock to me last night. I'm proud of the way the city is pulling together. It was a great place for me to grow up.
This photo is of the town of Palo--a woman (who I used to babysit!) lives here. She has 5 feet of water in her basement.

A difficult time for sure. I was impressed by all the people involved. True character shines through when faced with challenges.

Take Care

It's heartbreaking - I try, but I can't even imagine how shocking and painful this must be for those families.

It is beautiful how this kind of disaster brings out the best in many people.

One of my former bosses was a congressman from Iowa and candidate for governor against Chet Culver. I know his love of that state and how he must be feeling. Our prayers are with everyone there, with everyone associated with those young men in the Boy Scouts -- and with you, for having such close ties to them all...

Thanks so much. . .I've heard from some friends who have had to evacuate. :-(
Lots of other friends and family are further from the water.

I'm so sorry for those folks.

I was wondering what my work place will be doing to help.

So heartbreaking
