It's Crazy....

I am such a FB addict now. It's like cyber-voyeurism. Catch a glimpse of everyone's day. Will anyone comment on my status, or comment on a comment on a comment (or how much I wish I hadn't liked your status because I have 80 notifications about it)?

It's crazy.

I need to get back to blogging. It's the deeper stuff I need. I always sort of scoffed at journals and such...we were forced to journal in jr. high and high school. I'm not the sort who likes to be forced to do anything.

Blogging is journaling by choice, and I need to journal more.

I need to read your thoughts...the ones that you haven't just typed in while waiting for an appointment or a coffee. Those are important...but it's the more orchestrated ones that intrigue me the most.

FB is sort of the flesh.....blogging is the soul.

I'm really trying to understand the FB/Blogging world, all while working to pulling off a marriage soon and being body-slammed by suddenly understanding the old testament in a new (babe in the woods, wet behind the ears) way.

I'm failing to process all the current inputs. Valuable stuff is falling to the ground, unreflected upon, and it's bothering me.

I've not found a way to be my verbose, anti-social self on Facebook, obviously enough, because it cannot be done. The thing is social media really scare me. I suspect they may be an evolutionary pressure on human interaction on the order of High Fructose Corn Syrup or free porn. But how do I reach such a negative conclusion about something so innocuous? It's akin to plotting against Tickle-me-Elmo. The little doll may have been ubiquitous and annoying; it's just a cute toy, right?

But when we find artificially sweetened food tastes good, and that gratification can come without risk or work, who is mature enough to say, "No." Not very many of us, that's who.

What to do?

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy whatever it is you decide to do. :-)

Thanks for the comments all...I love FB...it has helped me reconnect with many people...some relatives, and to keep up with them.
But, you'll notice that I don't have my blog listed on FB. That tells me a --
I trust all of you the most..with my innermost thoughts.

Kevin, you really brought out some good points, too. FB is a soundbyte thingie....I think some of us update too often so that it gets lost in the shuffles. Less is definitely more there.

I like FB I've been able to connect with an old love and a a friend. They both need prayers for different reasons. One I had dinner with when I was in town the other will meet me for coffee some time. It's nice to reconnect.

Totally agree!! I couldn't care less about the FB "Mafia" stuff or what people are cooking for dinner (unless they plan to invite me). I need to go back to blog land more. I didn't have my blog on FB, then I added it (nobody visited) and now I'll probably take it away again. I really don't like the politics in FB. You can't really decline friendships of people you know, but if those people are gossipy or judgmental, it takes away the opportunity to be candid. I like the "innermost thought" board that is blogland.
