Early morn...

I didn't sleep much last night. Youngest had to be ready for pick up for scout camp at 6:30. I keep waking up around 4:30, but I'm enjoying it. Coffee, labrador, and a walk. Hubby is in Toronto. . .the guy who is always late calls at 6:05 a.m. (7:05a.m. Toronto time)to see if I'm up to get scout off to camp. Hubby is getting ready to golf. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

I've been spending the last couple of weeks puttering around the house. My next 2 mural projects are on hold til the clients decide when and what to do. I should have been working on them by now, but what will happen is that everything will hit at once when I'm also trying to substitute teach. It's been a forced vacation. . .and sorely needed. I realized that I haven't really had but 2 real vacations in (ugh) 20 years. I've enjoyed these weeks to do what I want to do, to get my house in order, to read, to babysit, to walk, catch up on some web work, to stare at the sky and the stars. I nearly tripped over the dog last night staring at either a satellite or something moving WAY up high.

My 50th Bday is around the corner in August. I joined a gym and am really looking forward to getting strong again. I'm going to work with weights which has always been enjoyable for me. Add that to already walking twice a day and I know that I'll be feeling healthier. 50 is just not the 50 of our grandparents. I'm excited to enter this phase of my life!
I think 50 won't be so bad!

Oh Karen, what a great post. I'm two years behind you (I'll be 48 in Sept) so you can be my role model. It really is still young in today's world, its just the actual number that sounds .... hard to accept :)

You go girl!!!! Work it!

Fifty is freeing, Barbara!
I thought you were only, like, 40.

I just get over the shock of remembering you have grown kids, and here you go again. You - and Barbara as a matter of fact - seem like hip young girls, so it's so easy to forget how grown up you're really supposed to be !! {c;

you're sweet, missy. . .the only thing "hip" about me is my arthritic hip! :-)

Ah, the sweet sound of denial - just kidding :)

We just got back from an overdue vacation and I am wishing I were back in the mountains.

Hope you enjoy your time off -- regardless of the reason that I've had an extended vacation, I will say that it's been great fun spending time with my daughters, surfing the web, and reading some great books!
