amazing grace...

Well, God just works all over. We count our blessings, if we're wise. I'm going to my regular doctor to discuss a few things. I have a factor in my blood that can cause clotting and such. It has never caused any problems before, so just wanting to make sure all my ducks (and platelets!) are in a row.
Here's the amazing stuff:
If I hadn't had this eye thing happen, I'd never have gone to my opthamologist.
He would never have taken blood to check for Vitamin D deficiency (and I'm anemic again.)
I would never have started Vit. D supplementation under supervision.
My pain level has decreased by 50%...at least. My flexibility and mobility are INCREASED. My labrador, who usually stands firm by the side of the bed in the a.m. so I can lean on her to get up, is flabbergasted. I get up with little to no stiffness.
So, now, I can tell those of you with inflammatory diseases and arthritis to make sure you're getting enough of Vit. D3.....you can get it in Omega 3 (good ones) capsules, salmon....and maybe you will improve as well. Research this. Apparently, people with inflammatory diseases are notoriously low in Vit. D.
Then, I am working with a church on two murals. For some reason, I click with all of these people. For some reason I am led to tell them about my eye, and my lupus. I don't mention any health issues to clients. It turns out one of the pastors AND his wife have lupus....they are both suffering terribly with it. I can't help but think the Holy Spirit brought all of this together for mutual encouragement. What are the chances?

He is certainly amazing, our God great and mighty!
It is such a relief to be reminded that God holds us in His hands and in whatever circumstances, we have nothing to worry about because we are in good hands.

thanks for coming by, Roland!
Bob, I'm using Professional Formula Cod Liver Oil right now...doc wants me to take Carlson's gelcaps Vit D with Calcium and Magnesium. You can get any of this stuff at a health food store. Take care not to overdose because D is a fat soluable vitamin..I'm extremely low, so am taking a large amount at the onset. Maybe take a double dose for a couple of days, then start a maintenance dose.

Good for you Karen! I find so much of the natural cures go unused because of "modern" medicine. Something as simple as vitamin D, eh? I pray that it continues to work and you get better and better.

Karen, I did not want to be a know-it-all, but thought this mught be helpful. I suffered many years from fat-soluble vitamin deficiencies (primarily D & K) - to the point of dementia (this is some of the problem that I have blogged about before). Never knowing what was going on, I gave up on docs and thought I was destined to suffer. I was finally recommended to a nutritionist. She explained the liver function, and how losing my gall bladder years ago had caused my liver to function improperly. A liver cleanse (simple herbal treatment) vitamin boost and some dietary changes (less bad fat, more essential fatty acids and more fiber) was all I needed. Lingering ailments of problems caused by the long term deficiencies still get me from time to time, but I have had incredible success.

I say all this, because those with inflammatory diseases (or migraines!) take higher amounts of medications that can damage the liver, which in turn can affect how the liver produces and releases bile to break down these fat soluble vitamins.

Missy, you're not a "know it all!" Thank you for sharing this. I haven't read your blog on this subject, as we've just met..I'll check it out. Is the liver cleanse gentle? Let me know what it is--if it's too "rough" then it can send me into a spin physically.
I don't have a gallbladder, and this stuff happened before that, but my Chinese Doc always wants me to do these horrible liver cleanses. And, since I started the cod liver oil, my vision and my thought processes are SO much clearer!! Thanks, Missy. I appreciate ya!

I think I was developing some of this before my gall bladder was removed, hence problems with the stones. My entire endocrine system was out of whack. What comes first, chicken or egg? :)

I used a very gentle health food store over-the-counter liver cleanse - just a 4-6 week herbal supplement treatment (over a year ago, can't remember the brand). I had no side affects at all. The nutritionist suggested to do that once a year - over due! I'm gonna hunt it down and let you know the brand.

Each month got incrementally better for me over the last year, too. I hope that gives you more hope!

... I think I'll check it out ... I had my gall bladder out five years ago (they told me it was ashen in color) ... I wonder what my liver looks like.

Blessings, Bob

i remember the saying 'when god closes a window he will open doors'.
i guess, this should be our attitude especially now that we are bind with LUPUS.
i learn that dwelling on what we are suffering from will just adds up to the depression, what we need is to look into the brigh side.
bless you, karen! keep the faith.
